Mountain Bike Trail Reroute Underway on XTERRA Course
The MTB course for XTERRA La Grande is getting quite a bit of action with the unseasonably warm spring. Trail work has begun, with some planned changes rolling out in the upcoming weeks. There is a reroute through the meadow to mitigate impact and aid drainage. When coming down to the meadow, riders should now turn right instead of left (clearly marked with logs). Follow the pink flagging to stay on drier ground on the edge of the trees below the meadow. Dismount to cross the creek, and then follow the flags to eventually connect back to the original trail up the hill. Soon there will have a bridge across the creek.
Changes are also being made on Suicide Hill to quell erosion. Look for new markings while riding the course and follow direction indicators as the changes take place. Trail maintenance is also welcome, mainly in the form of roughing and smoothing the new trail sections. And, keep riding the course to keep it in good shape. Contact La Grande Ride to volunteer your help on upcoming maintenance. Race volunteers are also needed.
