Suicide Rock Duathlon 2012

Part 3 of 3 of La Grande Ride's offroad duathlon training series in preparation for XTERRA La Grande. This run-bike-run event will take place on a gnarly section of the XTERRA bike course, just outside of La Grande. Pre-register for this event by contacting La Grande Ride, as entries are limited. Team entries are allowed.

The course will include a 1 mile run (out and back 0.5 miles each way) on a rough road that will descend 157ft elevation at 4.5% gradient to the turnaround and then return on the same road. The bike section will climb from near the upper gate, joining the same route as the bike segment during XTERRA La Grande. The loop will include the most difficult and fun sections of Suicide Hill and Rock Garden and then return to the gate (instead of turning right to go down to the lower meadow). The bike route is 5 miles. Run 2 will be the same as Run 1.

The start and transition are at the gate high up on Glass Hill Road. The road is very bumpy and parking is limited, so it is recommend to park lower on Glass Hill Road, and ride up to the start.
